What's new in Gpg4win 4.4?

2024-11-27

GnuPG

  • The new command gpg --quick-set-ownertrust allows to set the ownertrust of a key and to set or unset the "disabled" flag.
  • The new option --assert-signer validates that at least one signature of a file has been made with the specified key. With this option gpg will return with an exit code of 0 if and only if the validation is successful.
  • The new tool gpg-mail-tube takes RFC-822 formatted mail on stdin and turns it into a PGP/MIME encrypted mail which is then written to stdout.

Crypto Manager Kleopatra

We added several new features and redesigned some windows to make the user experience better.

  • In the certificate details window the subkey details as well as the certification information are now integrated with their own tabs.
  • Subkeys can now be added to a secret key from the subkeys tab.
  • In the smart card view there are now separate menus for card and slot actions. They possible actions vary depending on the type of card.
  • Simplification of the key creation window.
  • The workflow for revoking a certificate has been improved.
  • Updates of one or more certificates is now possible from the context menu.
  • The focus in the certificate list now stays were it should be.
  • Files can now be signed by multiple persons and the signatures added to the detached signature in the .sig file. The Verification shows the status of all signatures.
  • With "Lookup on Server" you now can see the origin of the search results: keyserver, WKD or LDAP.
  • It is now possible to disable/enable certificates via the context menu. Disabled certificates are not offered for any actions any more and only shown with the "disabled" filter.
  • Tooltips were added to the certificate filters
  • Improvements related to Kleopatra groups:
    • A "groups" button was added to the toolbar to make the groups configuration more discoverable.
    • The UX for group configuration was enhanced, e.g. by only offering valid encryption certificates for addition to a group. If you choose to view all certificates instead, those which are not suitable are marked thus.
    • You can now create a group from the context menu of the certificate list.
    • For groups with OpenPGP keys you are offered the option to certify all the certificates in the group exportable in one go before exporting them to share them with others.
